Spicy Breakfast Sauce is the ultimate alternative to traditional breakfast condiments. We’ve taken the best bits of our 2-star Great Taste Award-winning Tomato Ketchup and combined it with the tart tanginess of Brown Sauce, with added smoky chipotle peppers and vodka.
Here at Sauce Shop, we have long been champions of combining our Tomato Ketchup and Brown Sauce together to make an epic DIY breakfast sauce. Life is a matter of choices, and we choose BOTH. This recipe does exactly that and more… we’ve added chipotle peppers, which are smoked and dried Jalapeños for a smoky and slightly spicy edge. The recipe also features a handsome amount of vodka, giving this sauce a Bloody Mary feel to it.
If you find yourself craving something fancier than Brown Sauce or Tomato Ketchup, reach for Spicy Breakfast Sauce. Squeeze it on a greasy fry-up, in a bacon sandwich or with eggs.

Although I like the flavour of this spicy breakfast sauce, I was really put off by the crunchy bits in it. My first try of this sauce was with hot dogs, and when I took a bite and it crunched I assumed it was bone or gristle in the hotdog so left it. My next try was with cheese on toast, again I was confused why my cheese had crunchy bits in it, I thought it had crystallised somehow, put me right off. It wasn’t until I read a few reviews that I realised there were crunchy bits of ‘sugar?’ in the sauce…WHY? I don’t understand the reasoning behind that decision. I have strained my sauce to use it up, needless to say I won’t be buying that flavour sauce again.
Hi Andrea, thank you for the feedback. To explain, it's not as intended, but we've discovered that the tamarind in the recipe is crystallising over time. It's a natural process like when honey crystallises in the bottle. It is totally safe to consume, but we appreciate this may be off putting for some customers, so we're amending the recipe going forwards to resolve this issue.
